Free Deposit Receipt Generator — Fill in the Details

Business details (optional)

Printed under your business name. VAT and GST receipts usually need your address and registration number. The tax number is never put in the QR code.

Keeps the name, address, contact, tax number, logo and currency in this browser (localStorage) for your next receipt, of any type. Nothing is uploaded.

Downloading the same receipt again keeps this number; once you change the receipt, it moves to the next one. Next time, it starts after the last number you downloaded on this device.

Discount, a second tax (e.g. CGST + SGST), prices with tax included

For prices quoted with VAT or GST in them: the tax is worked out of the total, not added on top.

The discount comes off the subtotal before tax, and both taxes are charged on (or, with prices that include tax, worked out of) the discounted amount.

Scanning it shows the receipt's details on a phone. It is a convenience, not proof the receipt is genuine. How it works

What each check is based on

For receipts you issue for your own business or property. Never create a receipt on behalf of a business you don't own, or for a payment that didn't happen — see our Terms.

A deposit receipt confirms that you received a deposit — a refundable security deposit for a rental, or an advance to secure a booking or order. It records who paid, how much, what the deposit is for and the refund terms. Fill in the form above and download it as PDF, PNG or JPEG.

Types of Deposit

  • Security deposit (refundable) — for example a tenant’s deposit against damage or unpaid rent, returned at the end of the tenancy.
  • Advance or booking deposit — secures a date, service or reservation and is usually deducted from the final bill.
  • Order deposit — a part-payment before goods are made or delivered, sometimes non-refundable.

Choose the right type in the form, and write the refund terms in plain words so there is no argument later.

How to Fill Out a Deposit Receipt

  1. Enter your name or business and the payer. The person or business receiving the deposit issues the receipt.
  2. Choose the deposit type. Refundable security deposit, advance/booking deposit or order deposit.
  3. Describe what the deposit is for. The property address, the order number or the booking date.
  4. Write the refund terms. When and how the deposit is returned, and what can be deducted.
  5. Enter the amount. If the deposit is part of a larger price, list the full price and enter the deposit as Amount Paid to show the balance due.
  6. Download and sign. Keep a copy for your records.

What Should a Deposit Receipt Include?

  • Names of the person paying and the person receiving
  • Date and receipt number
  • Deposit amount in figures and words
  • What the deposit secures (property, booking or order)
  • Whether it is refundable, and the refund terms
  • Payment method
  • Signature of the person receiving it

Rental Security Deposits

Many countries, states and provinces have their own rules for tenant security deposits — maximum amounts, where the money must be held, and deadlines for returning it. Check the rules where your property is before taking a deposit. For the monthly rent itself, use the rent receipt generator.

Is a deposit receipt a contract?

No — it confirms that money was received and the terms you agreed. Put the full agreement (for example a tenancy or service agreement) in a separate signed document.

How do I record a deposit that will be deducted from the final bill?

Choose “Advance / booking deposit”, list the full price as the item and enter the deposit as Amount Paid — the receipt shows the balance still due.

What should I do when I return a security deposit?

Issue a short note or receipt showing the amount returned and any deductions with reasons, and keep it with the original deposit receipt.
