Idaho Rent Receipt Law
Idaho has no rent receipt law: its landlord and tenant chapter (Idaho Code §§ 6-301 to 6-324) does not require landlords to give receipts, so a receipt depends on the lease or the tenant asking.

Make an Idaho rent receipt ↓Idaho's landlord and tenant chapter, Idaho Code Title 6, Chapter 3 (§§ 6-301 to 6-324), covers eviction, the tenant's action for damages or repairs (§ 6-320) and security deposits (§ 6-321), but none of its sections requires a receipt for rent.
Giving a Receipt Anyway
No receipt duty doesn't mean a receipt is useless. A tenant can ask for one, the lease can require one, and a local rule may add one. For the landlord, a receipt for every payment is the simplest proof in a dispute over what was paid; for the tenant, it is proof of rent for a tax return, a benefits claim or the next rental application.
What to Put on the Receipt
A receipt that shows the date, the amount, the rent period, the property address, the tenant's name and the landlord's or agent's name and signature covers what tenants, courts and employers usually ask for. Say how it was paid (cash, check, transfer) and any balance still owed.
